The US General Services Administration (GSA) selected a Devis solution to build and implement ACMIS, a US Government-wide Internet application designed to allow federal procurement officials to plan and monitor their employee skills base. The award was made to prime contractor Marasco Newton Group (acquired by SRA International) with Devis as key subcontractor responsible for building and providing managed application services for ACMIS once it is operational. Devis will design, develop, and host the new, cost-effective application using standard Extensible Markup Language (XML) formatted data and 100% open source tools and technologies. The COMMITS contract became effective January 7, 2002. In addition to software development, Devis will provide end-user support, hosting, and assistance to other agencies in integrating personnel data from disparate systems.
In a Federal Computer Week article announcing the project, Deputy Associate Administrator of Acquisition Policy at GSA's Office of Government wide Policy, says "The information is important to understand what kind of education and training our acquisition workforce needs and to understand what skills and competencies our workforce has to best leverage those people."
