Devis Launches "A New Era of Competition" in Federal Contracting - Linux Journal - June 2004

Devis developed the first ever software product to be released by the US Government under the General Public License. This article, in the June 10, 2004 Linux Journal, explains how Devis has helped raise the bar in Government competitiveness in contracting.

Devis President Peter Gallagher describes how open source software (OSS) can provide "best value" to eGovernment procurement. The article focus' on "public infostructure" and how government can leverage IT investments via OSS releases.

Devis worked with Federal agencies to create the WorkforceConnections just-in-time content and e-learning publishing environment. It was released as OSS by the Department of Labor.

Devis has since enhanced the WorkforceConnections to create EZ Reusable Objects, or EZRO, as a modified commercial variant. EZRO, released under GPL license, is in use by many organizations and has saved the Federal Government millions of dollars.

A new era of competitiveness in the procurement of egovernment applications is beginning.
