Federal Web Sites: The Next Wave? – October 2005

InformationWeek's October 11 story Federal Web Sites: The Next Wave? states that the "DisabilityInfo.gov site is a model for others in the government to follow, not just for what it does but for how it does so." The story lays out how the award winning site uses technology to breakdown institutional barriers to provide a true "citizen-centric" view for Americans with disabilities.

"We are delighted that our agile infostructure process, built on modified industry best practices, was instrumental in creating DisabilityInfo.gov. The networked government technology allows the vast, vast, pool of expertise in the Federal community to create rich information resources easily, at low cost, and directly on the Web" said Devis Chief Technology Officer, Martin Hudson.

The article closes by saying "Here's hoping the site is a model that others in the government will follow." Devis too, hopes that other information sharing requirements can be met with the same technology - technology that positions Federal experts to leverage their know-how in helping citizens find answers to common questions.

The story was also published in GovernmentEnterprise.
