On December 20, 2010, Development InfoStructure was appraised at Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon.
"CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. CMMI can be used to guide process improvement across a project, a division, or an entire organization. It helps integrate traditionally separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a point of reference for appraising current processes."
CMMI appraisals are available in three distinct areas: Acquisition, Development and Services. Devis attained its CMMI appraisal in the Development (CMMI-DEV) area. Over a period of nearly a year, a team of ten dedicated Devis staff identified, developed, and documented the Devis best practices, processes and procedures to address the model scope of the Level 3 appraisal. The main goal of this effort was to examine and analyze Devis' current best practices and processes and then make the necessary improvements to ensure the highest quality products and on-time delivery services are provided for our clients.
From November 29th to December 3rd, 2010, a panel of six CMMI-certified appraisers evaluated Devis' best practices and procedures against seventeen applicable CMMI-DEV Level 3 process areas. Devis satisfied all seventeen areas. The official certification can be viewed here, Development InfoStructure, Inc. (DevServices), and complete descriptions of the process areas can be viewed here, CMMI for DEV.
