Workforce Recruitment Program

Workforce Recruitment Program - Full

Scope of Work

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program that connects Federal employers nationwide with highly motivated postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace. Annually, trained WRP recruiters from federal agencies conduct personal interviews with interested students on college and university campuses across the country. Students interviewed have a wide variety of majors, and range from college freshmen to graduate and law students. Information from these student interviews is compiled in a searchable database that is available through a website to federal Human Resources Specialists, Equal Employment Opportunity Specialists, and other hiring officials in federal agencies.

Skills and Expertise Required

WRP is a java-based system that runs on Linux and uses the Jboss application server. The database is PostgreSQL, while the framework is Struts with Velocity as the frontend. The system can generate reports and statistics that the program manager, schools, recruiters and employers need to evaluate the program's outcomes and effectiveness.

Devis also hosts WRP using our secure VMWare vSphere 4 virtual infrastructure with monitoring performed by Nagios and up.time to ensure maximum availability to users spread across the country.

Results/Impact

Co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), with the participation of many other federal agencies, the WRP has provided employment opportunities for nearly 5,000 students since 1995.
